I’ve done literally hundreds of trips on the metro in Paris and can say that today was without a doubt the most pleasant trip I’ve taken.
I was on my way to Marmottan Monet on Line 9 and got on the train to find 3 young guys singing a song in English about travelling on the metro. They were terrific!
Usually the performers on the trains are the most woeful amateurs who get on at a stop (avoiding the police because it’s illegal), perform terribly and then go through with their paper cup being ignored by everyone and slink off 2 stops later.
These guys were great and the passengers were clearly disappointed when they had to get off the train.
Everyone was coming up putting money in before they left. Everyone in the carriage had a smile and it was an amazing atmosphere compared to normal. They sang a lot of songs (all in English even though they are French).
As I was getting off one of them said that if people wanted to organise a private concert they had a few cards on them. I was actually off on the platform when I heard that but jumped back on the train and got a card.
I found they regularly do that train. Their You Tube video is very poor quality and they actually sound MUCH better live.
I absolutely loved it and I think it would be a fun thing to have them come and do a mini concert.
