THINK FRENCH, SOUND FRENCH The aim of this short language tour is to revise, refresh or even learn for the first time most of what you need to feel at home in Paris. While this is specifically about the language, we also concentrate on the practical side of Parisian life - how the French think, as well as how they speak. It's an immersion in the life style. Everyone has a different need. Some want to improve their pronunciation and increase their confidence. Food fans want to be able to read the menus in restaurants which don't cater to tourists and don't provide English menus. A surprisingly large number of people would just love to be able to order perfectly pronounced "Millefeuilles". Paris has too much to offer to be confined to a classroom all day. We also know that spending time conjugating verbs holds no appeal. Phrase books don't cover all the bases and can't give you confidence in the pronunciation. |

A NEW CONCEPT FOR SOPHISTICATED TRAVELLERS Like all our itineraries, the language course is tailor-made to suit each individual or group's needs. Emphasis is given to general communication, vocabulary and pronunciation. One-on-one tuition is proving to be the most efective, with private lessons starting from 2 hours and available at any level from Beginners, right through to fluent speakers. The most popular option is a full day (often, a series of full days) which includes a class followed by an afternoon practice session. You will communicate what has been learnt during the lesson on an outing with the tutor or one of our experts from the 'French Style' program (the food expert is a favorite!). Classes can also be organized for small groups, once again with the actual content being tailor-made. An example of a program for either an individual or a small group is shown below. |

PARIS BASICS This is designed to allow you to travel around Paris like a Parisian (in particular how to use buses). Even regular visitors to Paris will find new tips on how to choose the easiest itinerary and what tickets or passes to buy. We include oral activities around Pariscope, designed to open up the widest choice in what to see during your stay. We'll also use an itinerary to practice how to get to various destinations like a local and use vocabulary learnt for buying tickets and seeking information. |

FOOD Elements of choice & how to order, tips ... How to read a menu and understand it. After the class we walk through streets where there are many restaurants, some more fashionable and famous than others. You will read menus and comment on them. Stop at a typical café and order in French and end the afternoon discovering one of the famous patisseries or chocolatiers in Paris. |

SHOPPING The class discusses the differences between open street markets, covered markets, "rues commerçantes", "passages couverts", "grands magasins", fashionable streets and their boutiques, as well as the vocabulary every shopper needs. We visit the street markets, lively "rues commerçantes", a 19th century "passage couvert", a "grand magasin" as well as a wide variety of boutiques chosen to suit each individual's interests. |

THE FACE OF PARIS There are so many different facets to life in Paris. Architecture, interiors and gardens are popular themes. The class concentrates on the relevant vocabulary and then the itinerary for the rest of the day is designed to visit the most relevant areas, giving you the opportunity to practice the vocabulary. The Face of Paris can also include information needed to help you if you are looking to buy an apartment or rent short or long term. |
