Deborah Anthony
Founder - French Travel Boutique
Deborah has been a student of French history for many years throughout her career in media. Despite regular visits to France over a long period, she felt she had been just scratching the surface. Extended stays in Paris only convinced her that most of the interesting things she had discovered and enjoyed were unavailable to people who did not understand fluent French.
In 2000, Deborah set up a specialist travel boutique for people like her, who wanted to experience more than is normally available to tourists. Aware that there seemed to be many “experts” on France, the challenge was to demonstrate that French Travel Boutique offers a high level of genuine expertise. The answer was academic qualifications.
Deborah moved to Paris to complete her degree studying French History at the Sorbonne where she topped her class with her exposé, demonstrating both her knowledge of French history and her command of French language. Deborah graduated with a double major in French and History, and was also awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Commendation for Academic Excellence.
Since 2004 Deborah has divided her time between Australia and her apartment in St Germain-des-Prés. She continues to study French history, which is a never-ending subject and is considered an expert by her colleagues in France.
Deborah loves French history because the characters are larger than life, just like their former residences. It is colorful and interesting, never stuffy and often unexpected. Travelling with Deborah is fun as well as informative. Her experience as a resident allows you to discover the very best Paris has to offer. |
